[News] Lee Jong-hyuk substitute for Kim Seung-woo in KBS "Crime Squad".

[News] Lee Jong-hyuk substitute for Kim Seung-woo in KBS "Crime Squad".
    Original : http://twssg.blogspot.com/

Kim Seung-woo will be dropping out of his upcoming drama, KBS’s Crime Squad, , Lee Jong-hyuk has been cast instead of Kim Seung-woo who stepped down for the new KBS 2TV drama "Crime Squad" coming this March. According to the productions for "Crime Squad", Lee Jong-hyuk will be playing the charismatic chief detective Jeong Il-do.

Lee Jong-hyuk said, "I will do my best to work best with the staff and other actors. I joined in a little late on this project but I will put in my all in analyzing the project and such to create a good piece".

Kim Seung-woo was supposed to play the role of Jeong Il-do but had to step down , KBS’s Crime Squad, despite the late date. Only a month before the show’s premiere, producers confirmed with the press that Kim has decided to leave because of personal reasons, and that it’s not because of injuries sustained during 'IRIS' shoots. Kim was cast as the cold, immaculate police chief to contrast with Song Il-kook’s scruffier cop character, and recently participated in the show’s poster shoots, although he hasn’t filmed anything for this drama.

Song Il-gook and others have started the shoot for "Crime Squad" and the Jeong Il-do parts are expected to be from the 8th.

Meanwhile, 16 episodes series "Crime Squad" is a mystery investigative drama about the Seoul Gangnam Police Detective Squad. It is expected to first show this coming March 7th. The cast features Song Il-gook, Lee Jong-hyuk, Song Ji-hyo, Sun Woo-sun and more.

[News] Jumong couple back together for 'Crime Squad'.

[News] Jumong couple back together for 'Crime Squad'.
    Cr. - javabeans

Song Il-kook (A Man Called God) and Song Ji-hyo (Goong) were first paired in the 2006 sageuk blockbuster Jumong, and now they find themselves paired again in the upcoming KBS drama Crime Squad.

Not having watched much of Jumong, I can’t tell you what their chemistry was like then, but they sure look playful and winsome here (which makes me see Song Il-kook in a different light, actually, since he’s always played such intense characters). And, yeah, a bickering couple cuffed together (the less intentional, the better) always makes me laugh. (It’s for that reason only that I got suckered into watching Three Brothers for waaaay too long, I think.)

In Crime Squad, he plays a homicide detective while she’s an intern reporter. As you might tell from these stills, they get off to a rocky start; they find each other irritating but have to put up with repeated run-ins, clashing all the while.

Song Il-kook said of his co-star, “Working with Ji-hyo again after four years, we’re meshing together extremely well. Since we’re good friends, the mood on set is very easy and I’m able to act comfortably, for which I’m thankful. We make up for each other’s weaknesses, and together, I want to make this a good drama.”

Song Ji-hyo said, “Song Il-kook sunbae has gotten into his character to an astonishing level, so as his colleague, I’m learning a lot. He’s always very thoughtful on set toward the staff and cast, and takes such care to make the set an enjoyable place that I’m grateful to him.”

The drama will follow Dream High on Mondays and Tuesdays, and premieres on March 7.

[News] Kim Tae-hee Wins Over Viewers with 'My Princess'.

[News] Kim Tae-hee Wins Over Viewers with 'My Princess'.
    Cr. - hancinema

Her stunning beauty is beyond dispute, but actress Kim Tae-hee has always been criticized for her wooden acting. She struggled even more in films than on TV, and none of her movies, including "The Restless", "Venus and Mars" and "Grand Prix", were a success at the box office.

But the soap "My Princess", currently on MBC, seems to have changed all that, and viewers have taken to Kim's adorable but comic character in a big way. They seem to enjoy seeing the inelegant side of someone who seems to have it all. And criticism of her acting skills seems on the wane.

"Viewers cheer when an actor shows a side that has never been seen before", one critic says. "But when the actor still gets criticized for their acting afterwards they tend to go back to their old image, and that can be fatal". In other words, the real test for Kim starts after "My Princess".

Of course, there are still some people criticizing Kim's acting on the web board of the "My Princess" homepage. In fact, Kim is perhaps the epitome of a star who appears in more commercials than films or TV series.

Others include Kim Hee-seon, Jeon Ji-hyeon, Ko So-young and Lee Young-ae. More recently, hin Min-ah and Lee Min-jeong also raised their profile through commercials before being cast in leading roles in films or TV series.

But while the financial rewards are great, viewers tend to disapprove. Woon Goon-il, a former SBS executive, said, "Actors should communicate with their audience through proper work with a story. If they shun it and bury themselves in commercials, their career is inevitably cut short".

[News] Kim Joon reveals still cuts of his character on “Homicide Divsion”.

[News] Kim Joon reveals still cuts of his character on “Homicide Divsion”.
    Cr. - allkpop

KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama, “Homicide Division”, have revealed still cuts of T-Max’s Kim Joon!

Kim Joon plays the role of the Homicide Division’s maknae investigator, ‘Shin Dong Jin,’ who has a smart head but an odd tendency to run away from crime scenes that involve corpses or blood. Although he seems quite average, his hilarious and unpredictable character is expected to give the drama some comedic relief.

The idol introduced his character by expressing, “‘Shin Dong Jin’ is smart, but he also comes from a wealthy family so he looks as if he’d lack nothing. He actually has a lot of fear and a habit of fainting, so he’s a fun character overall. One of his biggest charms is his ability to make others laugh, even in serious situations.”

The drama will begin airing on March 7th.

[VOD & News] Chun Jung Myung & Han Ji Hye in 'The Duo (짝패)' MBC new drama Trailer.

[VOD & News] Chun Jung Myung & Han Ji Hye in 'The Duo (짝패)' MBC new drama Trailer.
    Original : http://twssg.blogspot.com/

Chun Jung Myung will play as the male lead, the one who got identity switch with Han Ji-hye in MBC new drama “The Duo”. This drama picked up the late Chosun period setting about two men from different social classes who were exchanged family after they’re born: the poor become rich and vice versa.

Han Ji Hye will play Dong Nye character, a daughter of school principal, a smart and has lots of interest in academic which makes her gives a lot of influence for people around her.

Plot summary about Chun-Dong (Chun Jung-Myung) was born into a rich noble family, but switched with a baby born into a beggar's mud hut. Gwi-Dong (Lee Sang-Yun) was born in that beggar's mud hut, but grew up with the noble family. They both fall in love with the same girl, Dong Nyeo (Han Ji Hye).

The story sounds interesting but hopefully there’s no excessive revenge or something like that regarding with that ‘identity switch’.

The Duo will be air first episode on 7th Febuary 2011.

[News] Cha Ye-ryun cast fills out for 'Royal Family' MBC new drama.

[News] Cha Ye-ryun cast fills out for 'Royal Family' MBC new drama.
    Cr. - javabeans

A few more actresses have been added to MBC’s Royal Family, the drama about the love story between a chaebol woman and the younger man she supports on his rise to becoming a prosecutor, who then returns the favor and supports her. Those two roles have been filled by Yeom Jung-ah (Working Mom) and Ji Sung (Kim Suro), respectively, and now Cha Ye-ryun joins them as another lead.

Cha plays a third-generation chaebol, which means that she’s the granddaughter to the head of JK Group; she’s also described as a “dark horse,” one who isn’t satisfied merely with the advantages that have been handed to her. She’s got a business mind, but never say a careerwoman can’t be a fashionista, because her wardrobe promises to be “upscale and colorful” in every episode.

Frankly Cha Ye-ryun bores me to tears, despite the fact that I enter every drama wanting to like her — A Star’s Lover, Invincible Lee Pyeong-gang, and Dr. Champ, for example. But she’s just so very anemic, her deliveries passive and wilting. Blerhhh.

In addition, actress Lee Chae-young (Comrades, pictured below) takes up a role as a cold urban woman with an intellectual bent. *Pffft* That’ll be interesting, since Lee Chae-young is currently more of a pin-up girl than anything, and her image is about as far from a brainy type as there ever was. But I suppose that’s why they call it acting.

The “royal” in Royal Family isn’t literal, but a metaphorical reference to chaebols being like royalty in modern Korean. Described as a drama centering around “ambition, betrayal, truth and love” doesn’t really tell us much about the story, so I’m filling in the blanks a bit when I suppose that it’ll be a straight drama with some melo twists and probably lots of angst.

Other cast members include Lee Da-hee of the ill-fated Birdie Buddy, Ki Tae-young from Creating Destiny, and 16-year-old idol boy Dongho of pop group U-Kiss. Veterans include the ubiquitous Ahn Nae-sang (Sungkyunkwan Scandal) and Jeon No-min (Queen Seon-deok). Royal Family follows My Princess and premieres on 2nd March 2011.

[VOD & News] Jang Hyuk, Kim Hee Ae & Lee Min Jung for 'Midas' SBS new drama & Trailer.

[VOD & News] Jang Hyuk, Kim Hee Ae & Lee Min Jung for 'Midas' SBS new drama & Trailer.
    Original : http://twssg.blogspot.com/

'Midas' two Trailer for SBS upcoming drama on Febuary , 'Midas' is set in the business world — dealing with the stock exchange, mergers and acquisitions, chaebols — and will be written by high-profile writer-producer Choi Wan-kyu of high-stakes gambling drama All In and mega-popular historical drama Jumong. Lee Min-jung’s character graduates from nursing school and begins working at a large general hospital.

In addition, Kim Hee-ae has also signed on, marking her return to television after four years away. Her last drama role came in the extremely popular My Man’s Woman. She’ll play a character with particularly keen business acumen, who happens to be romantically partnered with a chaebol.

Jang Hyuk (Chuno), Kim Hee-ae (My Man’s Woman), and Lee Min-jung (Smile, You). Apparently we’ll have to wait for the third and fourth trailers before getting more of an idea what this drama’s about, if we’re lucky. What we’ve been told so far is that it deals with the business world and mergers and acquisitions, with characters who are hedge fund managers and rich folk and playboy. Tells story of the life of ordinary people and chaebols in the mergers & acquisitions, stock market and financial world. "Midas" takes place against the backdrop of corporate M & A (mergers and acquisitions).

"Midas" takes over the SBS Monday & Tuesday 21:55 time slot previously occupied by "Athena: Goddess of War".

[News] Lee Yo-won, Bae Soo-bin & Seo Ji-hye first shooting for '49 Days' SBS new drama.

[News] Lee Yo-won, Bae Soo-bin & Seo Ji-hye first shooting for '49 Days' SBS new drama.
    Cr. - javabeans

The upcoming SBS fantasy-romance drama 49 Days began filming last week and held its first outdoor shoots on January 31, about six weeks in advance of its premiere when it takes over Sign’s Wednesday-Thursday timeslot.

Lee Yo-won (Queen Seon-duk) stars as a woman who gets possessed by the spirit of another woman whose body has fallen into a coma after surviving a car crash (played by Nam Gyuri), just a week before her planned wedding.

Jung Il-woo is cast as the pretty-boy reaper who is there to guide souls to the afterlife; he offers up the deal that if the woman can find three people outside of her family who truly love her and are moved to tears, she can come back to life. I’m making the leap in supposing that the deal extends for 49 days, which is the time it takes for a life to move on to the hereafter, according to Buddhist beliefs.

The cast also includes Jo Hyun-jae in his first role back from military service, Seo Ji-hye (Kim Suro), and Bae Soo-bin (Dong Yi, also pictured below with Nam Gyuri — I’m guessing he’s the fiancé). Aside from Nam Gyuri, it’s a pretty appealing cast, and with the creative team behind it, I’m definitely interested. It’s like Who Are You all over again — which could be a good thing, since I loved Who Are You.

The drama comes from the successful writer-director pairing of So Hyun-kyung and Jo Young-kwang, who worked together for Brilliant Legacy and Prosecutor Princess. Both dramas had passionate fanbases, so if they can tap into that rom-com mojo again, there’s a good chance 49 Days will draw the same kind of fervor. Or so goes the hope.

49 Days will premiere on March 16.

[News] Meet the cops of KBS’s Crime Squad.

[News] Meet the cops of KBS’s Crime Squad.
    Cr. - javabeans

Following teen idol drama Dream High, we have the more serious crime drama titled, appropriately enough, Crime Squad. Below are shots from the drama’s poster shoot earlier this week, featuring its cast of cops.

The drama stars Kim Seung-woo (IRIS) and Song Il-kook (A Man Called God), each of whom embody two very differing working styles. Kim Seung-woo plays a cold, clean-cut, buttoned-up police chief, while Song Il-kook is decidedly scruffier as the hotheaded cop. (After seeing the latter playing sageuk kings and sleek modern badasses, I have to say I really like him rumpled-up and sporting some ‘tude.)

The other cast members include (below, from left to right) T-Max rapper Kim Joon (returning to the acting scene after his debut in the hit teen drama Boys Before Flowers), Sunwoo Sun (Will It Snow For Christmas), and Jang Hang-sun (Baker King Kim Tak-gu).

Not pictured here are Park Sun-young (Sons of Sol Pharmacy). Song Ji-hyo plays a reporter intern, a character that the actress describes as “very bright and strong-willed.” After a run-in with Song Il-kook’s character (with whom Song reunites after acting together in the hit sageuk Jumong), she accompanies him to the scene of the crime and nabs a story, and afterward, they continue to cross each other’s paths in unexpected ways.

Song Il-kook explained that he took the role because he wanted to work with Kim Seung-woo, and if these guys have any chemistry together, it could be fantastic to see them clashing and playing off each other. On the other hand, the PD-writer creds have me a little worried, since Kwon Kye-hong last directed the convoluted melodrama Bad Love… and that inspires very little confidence. I can’t find much info on the two writers, which inspires even less confidence. No, wait, I think Bad Love still trumps inexperience.

Crime Squad premieres on March 7.

[News] Choi Ji-woo comeback for new drama 'Medical College'.

[News] Choi Ji-woo comeback for new drama 'Medical College'.
    Cr. - javabeans

The Goddess of Melodrama herself, Hallyu star Choi Ji-woo (A Star’s Lover, Air City, Winter Sonata) is planning a return to the small screen with the drama Medical School. Well, the title is informative, I’ll give you that, but not so punchy. (I assure you, it’s the same in Korean: 의과대학). I can’t say that I’m all aflutter for a medical melodrama (been theeeeere, done thaaaaat), but I’m happy to hear news that Choi Ji-woo is returning to television.

It’s one thing javabeans and I always say that we love about the K-drama system: that miniseries mean big stars can commit to TV shows without signing away years of their lives, which means they can regularly return to the medium that launched their careers. (See: Lee Byung-heon in IRIS, Bae Yong-joon in Legend).

It’s been two years since her last drama, 2009′s A Star’s Lover, but she’s since starred in the film Actresses alongside heavy-hitter Go Hyun-jung, who is, at least in the last few years, out-shining Choi as the hottest act in town. Perhaps this drama will be the commercial success that she needs to put her back in the game. (Not that, you know, she’s starving or anything.)

She’ll first be starring in the Japanese melodrama Winter Cherry Blossom on TBS, and then move onto pre-production for Medical School. Looks like there’s a chance we’ll see Choi Ji-woo back in K-dramaland before the year is out.

[News] Lee Ji Ah reveals “Athena” on-location photos.
    Cr. - allkpop

Actress Lee Ji Ah briefly shed her charismatic persona from “Athena” and turned back into her bright and smiley self in recently revealed on-location photos.

The newly revealed photos were photos that were taken periodically during filming, and Lee decided to post them up because she was sorry that she could not pay attention to her fans due to her busy schedule. Various photos of her preparing for filming, monitoring herself, getting makeup done and resting were uploaded to satiate the curiosity of fans.

In particular, her long limbs and flawless skin made the on-location photos look like photos from a professional shoot.

“Athena”, which showcases Lee Ji Ah’s improved acting and charms, airs every Monday and Tuesday night at 9:50 on SBS TV.
